피난 및 방화시설 등을 유지관리하기 위한 목적으로 비상출입문에 설치되는 개폐장치로서 평상시에는 잠김 상태를 유지하다가 화재수신기와 연동하여 긴급 상황이 발생되면 자동으로 (옥상)비상문을 개방해주는 기능을 함으로써 피난자의 안전을 도모하는데 그 목적이 있다.
